People in a Northern Hills town may get to shop at a Family Dollar store in the future, but it's not a done deal yet.
Deadwood Mayor Chuck Turbiville says the city is still negotiating with Family Dollar, waiting for an appraisal. Deadwood appraised the property on Sherman Street, at $775,000. Now an individual hired by the bank has to find the property to be worth that much.
Turbiville says he thinks the deal will happen, which would be good for Deadwood because it doesn't have any type of grocery store, and it will generate revenue for the city. "When Family Dollar comes in and generates sales, then it will generate sales tax revenue, which is another good thing for the city of Deadwood.
The closing date on the deal is October 1, and Turbiville says he's not very interested in any extensions.
