Rapid City tree removal leads to traffic restrictions

An old Rapid City tree was cut down Tuesday morning, and it was so large that part of the road was closed during the process.

Crews started working at 9:00 a.m. to take down the 40-foot tree in front of the Roosevelt Swim Center.

Workers maintained thru traffic on Waterloo Street between New York and Omaha Streets throughout the work, but warned drivers to use caution as wood chippers and large trucks removed the tree.

The work was completed by noon, and the streets have reopened.
