It's been a staple of the community for over five decades.
And today, Storybook Island reaches yet another milestone.
The attraction is celebrating its 54th birthday.
It first opened in 1959 ... But was destroyed by the 1972 flood.
It was rebuilt in its current location just off Sheridan Lake Road.
Rotary Club member Ben Watson says the goal of the non–profit attraction has always been the same, "The main goal of the staff & the rotary of the community is to make sure that we can continue to offer a great place for families and children to come, visit and play and to keep it free"
The park is funded (100 percent) by visitors donations and various fundraisers like the upcoming "once upon a festival" in early September.
