A company, new to Rapid City is officially up and running. WL Plastics was welcomed Tuesday morning by the city of Rapid City and the state of South Dakota.
The company, which manufactures polyethylene pipe for mining, oil, natural gas and other uses, opened last month ... creating nearly 50 new jobs. That's only the beginning, the plant is built for expansion, and the company's director says he expects another 10 to 15 jobs to be available in the future.
Bakken Oil Field owners are customers of WL Plastics. Mike Dahl, the director of the company says that factor, along with many other pros made Rapid City a great place to build. "Its proximity to customers but its also demographics and quality of work force," Dahl said.
The Texas based company has 7 other plants in the U.S.
