The Hot Springs Movie Theater opens Friday for the first time in several months. The theater originally closed because it couldn't compete with the digital world, as playing film got more expensive.
Roy Reitenbaugh, the manager, asked the Hot Springs community back in June to come together to raise upwards of $60,000 to make the switch from film to digital. But now the owner of the theater has decided to pay for the upgrade.
Reitenbaugh says the theater will be operating on 35 mm film for the next six weeks, until the new digital projector is put in. In addition to a new projector, a new sound system and screen are also being added.
The price of tickets will stay at $6 for adults and $4 for children.
Friday night the theater will be showing Iron Man 3.
