More Wyoming troopers to handle biker traffic

The Wyoming Highway Patrol will start sending more troopers to high traffic areas to focus on motorcyclists traveling safely to Sturgis for next week's motorcycle rally.

Around 16,000 riders are expected to crowd into areas, like Devil's Tower, next week.

So extra troopers will head that way to help with any traffic safety issues in congested areas.  Captain Carl Clements says they'll head to Weston County Friday morning.

"Trying to help with that congested traffic that's heading north on 85, get into South Dakota safely anyway.  And then those early bikers that are going through the Devil's Tower area to make sure the congestion in those junctions doesn't back up," said Clements.

Clements says the Highway Patrol is sending about 20 extra troopers to the Devil's Tower area.
