In day four of the Charles Birds Head manslaughter trial, the defense began calling its first witnesses.
Two members of a forensic team testified to the blood evidence found on the coat of Birds Head after the shooting that took place at the South Dakota Rose Inn parking lot on January 7th.
An investigator with the Pennington County Sheriff's office described what he saw on surveillance video outside the motel just minutes before Eustacio Marrufo was shot and killed. Investigator Jeromey Smith said Marrufo and two others were in a room "shooting" meth.
He also said Marrufo was kissing and fondling a 15-year-old girl.
Defense attorney, Jamie Patterson ended the day with a series of photos of Birds Head that depicted several head wounds alleged to have come from the night of the shooting.
The state rebutted with evidence from text messages that show pictures of Birds Head with various head wounds before the January 7th.
