Wednesday was the last of the two special city council budget meetings in Rapid City.
On the agenda were the Airport, Fire, Police, and Parks and Recreation Departments.
The airport presented it's budget which is asking for an additional increase of nearly $500,000.
Also the Rapid City Police Department was asking for an increase of 5.8% or more than $684,000 additional dollars.
Chief of Police Steve Allender says an increase like this
isn't out of the ordinary, and is mainly attributed to rises in salaries, and workman's compensation plans. He says their total operating budget is more than $12 million dollars per year, which breaks down to about a million dollars a month.
"There are employee raises in the budget as per union contract negotiations. But nothing out of line. So nothing out of the ordinary in this budget," says Allender.
Also Wednesday night was the Rapid City Fire Department, asking for an additional 7.8% increase in funding.
