A Rapid City teenager remains in critical condition after being shot in the head.
At 3:30 a.m. Sunday, police were called to an apartment at 234 E. Tallent Street for a shooting. They found a 17-year-old female with one gunshot wound to the head.
Two 17-year-old females and a 22-year-old male had reportedly been drinking and handling a .22-caliber rifle at the apartment. One of the females was holding the rifle when it fired one round at the other female.
The victim was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. The rifle was seized, and the juvenile shooter was taken into custody on two warrants for failure to appear in court. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
No arrests have been made.
