U.S. Senator gets update on fight against pine beetle

U.S. Senator John Thune met with the U.S. Forest Service Friday regarding the pine beetle infestation in the Black Hills.

Members of the forest service discussed efforts being made to stop the spread of the pest.

Thune wants to give as many resources as he can to quell the beetle problem.

"The work that's been put forward by the forest service I think is meeting with some success and we hope to build out on that," Thune said.

Thune says it's been an ongoing effort to persuade other members of congress of why the pine beetle epidemic is such a major problem.
