Family housing at Ellsworth Air Force Base will soon get a major renovation.
U.S. Senator Tim Johnson has announced that the Air Force will finalize a deal with Balfour Beatty Communities on Aug. 1, to privatize the military family housing on base.
Currently there are 283 homes at Ellsworth that require no work, but Balfour will build an additional 214 new homes over the next three years.
Other projects Balfour will be responsible on base are a new community center, volleyball courts, and other recreational facilities.
