Piedmont has some new land to call its own. The Meade County Commission recently voted to annex six lots.
The first lot is off Apple Road and Mahaffey Road and is called the Pickeroom subdivision. It has four lots.
Around three years ago, the Indian Hill subdivision was annexed into Piedmont with around 40 lots. Two more lots from that subdivision were annexed recently.
Philip Anderson, the president of the board of trustees, says people like living in Piedmont because there are less rules, like residents can have chickens and there's no rule on the length of grass. "You'll find out that people pretty much take care of themselves. We'll do it ourself, we don't need government to come in and be the babysitter for us," said Anderson.
Leaders say Piedmont is also trying to make a better community, with farmer's markets in Piedmont Park every Thursday, and movie nights in Piedmont Park starting in August.
