Every six seconds a child dies of hunger and one organization in Rapid City wants to change that. Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit organization that provides food for children and families locally and around the world.
In Rapid City, the group was doing mobile packing events at churches, and now they have a space at Black Hills Works.
Groups can volunteer and pack the rice and soy meals. Organizers say they are glad people are doing their part to help.
"There are people who are hungry in our country, but around the world it is pretty shocking that there is still starvation. This is something that people can actually do something about," said Deanna Darr, of Kids Against Hunger.
People interested in helping out you can schedule a time at the packing center at 1350 Concourse Drive in Rapid City. People can pack meals from 6:30 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, or from 10 am to 11:30 am on Saturdays. For more information call 605-484-2370 or visit their website.
