The Dahl Arts Center is hosting an event for Lutheran Social Services called Healing Through Art.
This Healing Through Art event will be held tomorrow evening from 5:30–7:30 p.m., featuring a collection of art from youth art therapy clients.
Lutheran social services says that art therapy is a form of healing within a professional relationship by people who experience illness, trauma or challenges in living, and by people who seek personal development.
The program was started to give children a different outlet to express their emotions.
Lutheran Social Services director, Sara Hornick said, "A lot of people can't describe their feelings as well, and so this is a different chance for them to talk about their feelings in a different way. You know they can start drawing something or coloring, and just think about how it opens up a kid's imagination."
The event is open to the public and will include a silent auction from local artist who support art therapy. All proceeds will benefit Lutheran social services
