The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 18-year-old, Audrey Adkins attempted to make a lane change while traveling east on I-90 in her Pontiac Bonneville.

She over corrected and her car went through the median and hit a light pole.
The car continued into the westbound lane, colliding with a Chevy Silverado pickup driven by 74- year-old Laura Hackens.

Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to get both drivers from the vehicles.
They were transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

UPDATE: As of 12:30 PM traffic in both directions on I-90 was open and moving again.

A rollover accident that took place around 11:00 a.m. Monday morning backed up traffic in the westbound lane on Interstate 90 near Rapid City for more than six miles.

Eye witnesses say that one driver drifted into opposite lane and over corrected hitting light pole and another driver. Authorities have not given any other information, however we will provide updates as information becomes available.
