Belle Joli' Winery grows grapes in Sturgis

Grapes are growing in Sturgis, as the Belle Joli' Winery has roots in a new location.

Belle Joli' has been a winery since 2007, with locations in Deadwood and Belle Fourche.

Matthew Jackson, co–owner and enologist, says they recently bought 12 acres in Sturgis to expand their business.

Five of those acres are home to grapes that will make champagne or sparkling wine.

The other acres will give visitors the chance to get up close and personal with the wine–making process. "We'll actually have on that facility an area where we produce sparking wine and champagne. That will be open to the public - they can walk through the vineyards," said Jackson.

Jackson says the new Sturgis winery is scheduled to open this fall.
