Beer distributor: no more deliveries to Whiteclay

Ryan Murphy, KOTA Territory News, Scottsbluff

In wake of recent acts of violence toward beer distributors in Whiteclay, one business owner is taking action.

High Plains Budweiser owner Jeff Scheinost will not deliver to Whiteclay.
He says Monday's incident of shots being fired at his drivers was the last straw.
Earlier this year, activists slashed tires and caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to a beer truck.

But this most recent incident caused his drivers to express concern that proper security cannot be ensured for beer deliverers.

"The health and welfare of my drivers is the main issue here, and not the equipment. That's man made stuff that can be fixed and repaired. But endangerment to life and body and limb cannot be," Scheinost said.

Scheinost says his deliveries to Whiteclay will be left in Rushville 20 miles away.
Whiteclay Store owners can pick up the beer and transport it themselves.
