Members of the Dove Christian Center are pushing to approve the Masters of Bull Riding event at their church.
They say it would not be a safety concern.
The Rapid City Legal and Finance Committee expressed concerns about the bull riding event taking place at the church because it is so close to a residential area.
The event would bring in 30 bull riders and approximately 40 bulls.
The committee has moved the item to council on Monday for further discussion.
General manager of Masters of Bull Riding,Timothy Stuen says he thinks the event will be good for the community.
"I think a lot of people would really enjoy coming to our property there at the church, the dove, and experiencing some professional bull riding and professional bulls. I think it would be a blast," said Stuen.
Dove Christian center is on Harmony Heights Lane near the intersection of I–90 and I–190.
If approved by The Rapid City Council the event will be held September 7th.
