Although it's the middle of the summer one group of KOTA Territory students has devoted their summer to bettering themselves for the future.
Hundreds of students involved with South Dakota's Gear Up program graduated from a 6 week program today that gets them ready for undergraduate studies.
Students take rigorous courses that cover all areas of academics.
The goal of the program is to prepare students for college.
Students involved with the program say gear up is helping them prepare for the future.
"I Love GEAR UP, I'm graduating today so this is my last day and I'm really sad," said camper, Tyresha Riquelmy Yankton. "I like the fact that it's so unique and isn't anywhere else."
"What I've learned in the program is social skills, self management skills and just how college life works," said Cody Red Fox.
Currently 65 percent of GEAR UP'S alumni have graduated from college or are still enrolled.
