How can I help the families devastated by the Yarnell fire tragedy?

The loss of 19 wildland firefighters this week in Arizona has affected the entire firefighting community.  One of those who were lost, Kevin Woyjeck, spent time in the Black Hills fighting fire with the South Dakota Wildland Fire Suppression Bear Mountain crew based out of Rapid City.

The Rapid City Fire Department has had multiple inquiries on how our local community can help those families who have been devastated by the loss of their loved ones.  They suggest the Wildland Firefighter Foundation

This is the same group that stepped in two years ago when the South Dakota Wildland Fire Suppression crew lost a young wildland firefighter named Trampus Haskvitz while fighting the Coal Canyon Fire near Edgemont.

When a wildland firefighter is seriously injured or killed in the line of duty, the Wildland Firefighter Foundation is there to provide emotional and financial assistance to their families.
