One KOTA Territory organization is taking part in a national movement to curb suicides.
The group known as the Front Porch Coalition is participating in the national campaign, "75 Days of Action", a movement that encourages action and discussion about suicide leading into national suicide awareness day in September.
Today's event included a webcast and open house.
While the past two years have brought more promising numbers, the group is hard at work to help those in troubling times.
"We put a lot of our own action steps together to reduce the number of deaths by suicide and really get people in crisis and in need of help, to the help that they need," said Stephanie Schweitzer-Dixon, Executive Director of Front Porch Coalition.
According to the group, the South Dakota suicide rate for people ages 15 to 24 is two and a half times the national average.
