One KOTA Territory town takes advantage of their location, directly on the way to the Bakken Oil patch.
The city of Belle Fourche and the Belle Fourche Development Corporation are constructing a more than 100 acre industrial and rail park.
It will provide rail access to the Canadian Pacific. Organizers say the project will attract businesses that are suppliers to oil operations in North Dakota.
"This is huge for Belle Fourche because we haven't had opportunities until recently for much manufacturing and some good high quality higher paying jobs. So we think this will be a breakthrough," said Jim Doolittle, Interim Executive Director of the Belle Fourche Development Corporation.
The city of Belle Fourche bonded $4.5 million for the project. It will be completed in the fall.
