A popular tourist attraction in Hot Springs changes hands July 1.
Evan's Plunge will be under city management. Because voters gave the green light to the city to purchase the nearly $1.5 million dollar property, starting in July one can take the plunge year-round.
The General Manager, Emily Campbell, says she is glad the city purchased the property because the city will market Hot Springs. For example, coupons to the Plunge if people stay at a hotel in Hot Springs.
City ownership and a municipal election means if the Plunge doesn't get enough revenue to pay for operations, it will use taxes. "They voted to allow sales tax funding to help supplement any operational needs and improvements that we would make," said Harley Lux, the city administrator.
The Hot Springs mayor has appointed an advisory board to oversee marketing of the Plunge.
