Obama says a pipeline proposal should go through

Posted:

President Barack Obama says a pipeline proposal should go through, only if it doesn't significantly increase carbon pollution.

The proposed Keystone XL Pipeline Project, would carry oil from the Canadian Tar Sands to the Texas Gulf Coast.

Obama didn't say how big of an increase in carbon emissions he would consider significant, however environmental activists have demanded that the pipeline project not go through no matter how insignificant the emissions may be.

Obama did say that allowing the oil pipeline to be built requires a finding that doing so is in the nation's best interest.
