People in KOTA Territory, especially in the Northern Hills, braced for a storm yesterday evening.
Now, the storm is gone and it's cleanup time.
Quite a few people in Spearfish reported damage from golf ball sized hail including the Walmart store which reported 200 broken skylights.
The store will be closed until all of the damage is repaired.
Residents in "The Reserve" neighborhood are dealing with shattered windows, dented walls and damaged decks and fences.
One homeowner was away at the time of the storm, she arrived home this morning to dozens of places where the hail had chipped away the sliding on her walls.
"Well I started crying. I was kind of devastated. My car
just got hailed on a couple of weeks ago and now my house was damaged my hail.
It seems like we have been getting a lot of hail this year, a lot of bad
weather,"said Verna Harlin, who's home was affected by hail damage.
"The radar was pink, so I said we better get ready for
hail. My truck doesn't fit in my garage so I was moving stuff so I could put it
in as far as I could. It was about five minutes later that the first hail stone
hit and then it was about 20 minutes of chaos after that," said Adam Jones another homeowner in the area affected by the hail.
The homeowners we talked to expect insurance to cover the damage to their homes.
