Instead of sunshine and hot temperatures on the first day of summer, Friday was rather stormy in KOTA Territory.

The strongest storm developed around 6 a.m. in Custer County, and moved into Shannon County.

Baseball-sized hail was even reported near Folsom.

Pennington County was also very wet, but some people didn't seem to mind.

"I actually appreciate rainy weather like this a little more so I'm not as bummed," said Cole Doherty." I was talking to my friend last night, we were thinking of going to the lake today, not so sure if it's going to happen anymore."

While some say the rain keeps people home, local restaurant manager, Bob Fuchs says the wet weather can actually bring people in.

"The weather isn't putting a damper on us at all today," said Fuchs. "Everything's great, it's nice and warm out and if anything sometimes the rain brings people in out of the Hills a little bit."

They call it June gloom and just because the calendar says it's summer doesn't mean rain can't be completely unexpected.

Rest assured, people in KOTA Territory should see plenty of sunshine for the next few months.
