A man shot by law enforcement officers following a chase in rural Pennington County is expected to recover.

Travis Ross, 43, was shot by two Pennington County deputies and a highway patrol officer after a chase.

Ross was stopped on Highway 14/16 at New Underwood.  Officers fired at him when he brandished a rifle.  Ross was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital but was not listed on the hospital directory.

Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom says he is in rough shape but is expected to recover.

The state Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into whether the officers were justified in shooting Ross.
