A man facing kidnapping charges could be charged as a habitual offender

A Rapid City man, facing kidnapping charges, could be charged as a habitual offender.

Thirty seven year old Virgil Bald Eagle goes on trial for kidnapping in September. The State alleges he kidnapped and held his wife and her friend in his apartment on March 28th.

In front of Judge Wally Eklund this morning, Bald Eagle was arraigned for a probation violation on a previous conviction of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in 2005 and the distribution of controlled substances in 2010.

The State also filed a motion to label Bald Eagle as a habitual offender. That means he could be given more time in prison if convicted of kidnapping charges.
