PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Life-size bronze statues of former South Dakota Govs. Frank Farrar, Harvey Wollman and Bill Janklow have been unveiled in a ceremony held at the state Capitol in Pierre.
The statues will be added to the trail of former governors that is being formed through downtown Pierre and the Capitol grounds.
In the ceremony held Friday, Gov. Dennis Daugaard was joined by all four living governors, including Farrar and Wollman. Also on hand were former Govs. Mike Rounds and Walter Dale Miller.
Daugaard says Farrar, Wollman and Janklow made the state better because they embraced good ideas without regard to party politics.
The statue of Janklow, who died last year, drew the biggest reaction from the crowd. It shows Janklow pointing with one hand while speaking into a bullhorn.
