Rapid City council committee votes no on new sidewalks

Posted: Updated:

One public works issue that has been thrown around for the last few weeks has finally been voted on.

Tuesday at the public works meeting, aldermen voted against placing sidewalks along highway 44 near Western Dakota Technical Institute.

Councilman John Roberts believes there is not enough foot traffic going through the area to place the sidewalks, so it is not beneficial.

Ron Sasso believes otherwise. "We have those pieces in place we have the bike and pedestrian master plan with the recommendations and that is one of them, one of the high priorities and that's why I believe that should be there,"said Sasso.
