South Dakota House Represenative Kristi Noem is in town for a series of meetings with local officials.
Friday, Noem sat in on the Black Hills Business Council monthly meeting at the business development center in Rapid City.
Among the topics discussed were the future of Ellsworth Air Force Base and what the government is doing to preserve public lands.
Noem also wanted to discuss what local businesses are doing right in this economy, "Some of the challenges we face in this economy haven't been as daunting in South Dakota, so we do a lot of things right here. It's a good chance for me to listen to a lot of the business leaders and see what they're doing that's working well and how we can do more in Washington DC to make their jobs easier."
Noem also took time to tour the ASI call center and talk with management about how they are helping create jobs in Black Hills.
The company has over 300 workers making it one of the larger employers in KOTA Territory.
Noem's visit to the Black Hills also includes a tour and a meeting with leaders of Ellsworth Air Force Base and visiting with veterans Saturday at the American Legion State Convention.
