Most Volksmarches in KOTA Territory are in the Black Hills, or in more rural areas, but Saturday, walkers took to a more urban hill.
It was the first Volksmarch in the middle of Rapid City, through Memorial Park and up M Hill.
People taking part in Saturday's march were able to choose between a 5 k or 10 k route.
Jo Ponder the walk's organizer says the walk is to promote exercise and healthy living, right in the heart of town.
"And you go to the top of the hill and you can see Harney Peak, Bear Butte, and the Badlands. It's just awesome up there. You're in the wilderness and in the middle of town," says Ponder.
Admission was two cans of food for the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive, or three dollars.
