The recent rain storms were a welcome sight for KOTA Territory, but one place could have gone without them.
The Deadwood Public Library has been indefinitely closed down because of recent water damage.
The 108 year old building began leaking Saturday when rain storms hit the area.
Library workers were able to cover up most of the books. But ceilings, walls, and the carpet all were damaged.
Cleaning crews have already started work, but until everything is fixed the library will remain closed.
"Well it saddens me because a lot of our patrons use the library on a daily basis so that is the downside to this. I'm thankful it's closed so we can get it repaired." Said Librarian, Jan Osborn.
"That's to bad because this library is a treasure to the City of Deadwood." Said library patron, George Brier who was accompanied by his dog Rufus.
Although a date is not set Osborn said the library will open again at some point.
