Where are the presidents going? There's a mystery unfolding in downtown Rapid City, presidents are vanishing from street corners.
At one point in time five were missing, including Pierce, Buchanan, and Teddy Roosevelt.
Now three street corners where, Hayes, Taft, and Garfield sit are empty, marked with orange cones.
Dallerie Davis, Vice President of the City of Presidents says don't worry, they weren't stolen, they are simply getting cleaned and polished.
And some, are getting fitted with a platform.
"If the presidents are raised just a little bit up from the street, it keeps their feet from getting so salty. If you're bronze that's one thing you do not want on your feet. Salty feet are horrible," says Davis.
One more president, Andrew Johnson, on the corner of Sixth Street and Saint Joseph Street will be the final one to get cleaned.
