It's official, the Gold Dust casino in Deadwood that closed on New Years Day will soon be re-opening.
Mayor Chuck Turbiville says first the existing property which covers half a city block, will undergo a complete renovation.
He says there will be a new restaurant and new gaming machines, and the business will employ between 50 and 75 people.
Turbiville says he hopes this will revitalize Deadwood's Main Street, which has seen its share of struggles over the years.
"We do have other empty buildings on Main Street and of them are located right next to the Gold Dust reopening it'll be an incentive for someone to come in and lease the building or buy the building," says Turbiville.
Turbiville says the new property managers are trying to get the new casino opened as soon as possible, but he says renovations will take a couple of months.
