For the next several days, Candidate Mark Kirkeby and Incumbent Sam Kooiker will continue to answer some of the big questions facing voters.
Tonight we ask them the about the Civic Center.
The Civic Center has a proposed 38 million dollar tab for mandated renovations. As mayor would you support the upgrades,do you support the 150 million dollar plan to build a new arena, or do you have another plan?
"It's unfortunate that my opponent did unveil this plan behind the scenes about a year and a half ago and went public with it last year. I'm extremely pleased with the new committee which is actually researching and reviewing those different options." Said Kirkeby."But absolutely, we do need to put in those upgrades for our disability clients to allow them every opportunity and full access and it's going to be really interesting to see what improvements are coming out with the civic center, but absolutely, I am a supporter of the Civic Center."
"There wasn't a complete set of plans drawn up, there wasn't millions of dollars spent on plans because this process needed to be in the public and it is now in the process of being vetted by The Civic Center Futures Committee." said Kooiker."It is in the process of including people from across the community in terms of coming up with a solution and I believe something needs to be done. Barnett Arena is a significant part of our communities infrastructure. It has proven it's a value over the years and it's something that has to be addressed."
Tomorrow we continue our questions by looking into each candidates management style and how they would run the city.
