Substance abuse treatment center set to expand this summer

A KOTA Territory organization dedicated to fighting substance abuse since 1973 upgrades to a larger facility.

With the new facility, Compass Point, formerly known as Northern Hills Alcohol and Drug , consolidates its Sturgis outpatient office with its Black Hawk inpatient facility into a single location.

Compass Point Director says "We've been working on a project to combine out inpatient and outpatient facilities for about seven years now and finally had an opportunity to buy the Badger Clark school".

The 10,000 square foot building is a massive upgrade from its former home.

The $900,000 renovation project and the building of the new inpatient facility next door was largely funded by a $475,000  grant from the John T. Vucurevich Foundation.

The new outpatient office is scheduled to open in July, with the inpatient facility following suit in August.
