Fallen police officers are honored at Ellsworth AFB

Posted:

Flags flew at half staff this evening at Ellsworth Air Force Base. It was to honor police officers and law enforcement officials who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The event has been a tradition on May 15th since 1962. Those who attended say it's important to remember those we've lost.

"Really it's for reflection and a better understanding that at any moment we could put our life on the line out there for the community," said Major Johnathan Bennett, 28th Security Forces Squadron commander.

Wednesday night's ceremony ran in conjunction with police week. Other police week activities include k9 demos and a fun run.
