Rapid City Man accused of kidnapping and assault is on the run

Posted:

A Rapid City man who was supposed to stand trial Wednesday for kidnapping and brutally beating a woman ... is missing.

Luke Elk Nation's defense attorney says he has not been able to get in touch with him since he bonded out.

Pennington County Deputy State's Attorney Tracey Decker says Elk Nation was able to slip a few notes to the victim. In them, he said if he was able to bond out - he wouldn't be back.

Seventh Circuit Judge Wally Eklund issued a no-bond bench warrant for the 29-year-old.

The 25-year-old victim was Elk Nation's girlfriend.   She told police that he held her against her will at the South Dakota Rose Motel and beat her.
