The Mount Rushmore Army ROTC Battalion held their largest Commissioning Ceremony in 20 years.
The Commissioning Ceremony took place at Mount Rushmore Saturday afternoon with a graduating class of 11 cadets, which are now the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.
They each had to complete the leadership development course, four years of ROTC classes, and graduate with a bachelors degree.
Colonel Dean Shultis says graduating at Mount Rushmore itself is a great symbol for our nation.
"When you look at the backdrop you see some great Americans who were volunteers but what they do is absolutely no possible without the volunteer efforts of the cadets here today that make up the officer core of our Army," says Shultis.
The Lieutenants are recent graduates of the School of Mines, Black Hills State, and Chadron State Colleges.
