No trial date set for man charged with murdering Rapid City woman a year ago

One year ago the lives of a young Rapid City woman and her unborn baby were cut short. On April 26th last year, 30-year-old Morgan Myers was stabbed to death in the parking lot of the Rapid City Walmart.

Myers, who was pregnant, suffered stab wounds to the stomach, killing the baby inside. Her ex-boyfriend, Michael Young, is charged with the murder as well as fetal homicide, felony violation of protection order, and stalking.

Young, 31, was caught a short time after the stabbing in a hotel bathroom with self–inflicted stab wounds. No trial date has been set due to several delays, including a change of defense attorneys.

Right now, the case hinges on a psychological evaluation. A hearing is set for May 20th. On Friday, friends and family will hold a candlelight vigil for Myers outside of Walmart.
