Rapid City fifth graders plant city donated tree for Arbor Day

As part of Arbor Day celebrations at Valley View Elementary in Rapid City, the Parks and Recreation Department donated a tree. With the help of Mayor Sam Kookier, fifth graders planted it.

students and staff say they're just doing their part to help the environment.    

"Well, anytime we can improve the environment by planting trees or taking care of the environment. It's a positive thing for our community," said Valley View Elementary principal Wayne Rosby.

Rosby says Rapid City is designated by the National Arbor Association as a city of trees. Arbor Day in South Dakota is on Friday.
