SD gas prices decline more than national average

A sharp decline in the price of oil this month is making gasoline cheaper at a time of year when it typically gets more expensive.

According to, the price at the pump in South Dakota has dropped four cents in the last week. Rapid City stations that were posting $3.25 a gallon are now sitting at $3.21.

That's about 31 cents per gallon lower than this time last year.

With Memorial Day just five weeks away, that's good news for drivers.

This slow downward trend is expected to last. A senior petroleum analyst for calls it unprecedented.
