Leaders at a Gillette school are hoping an online contest will lead to giving students a much needed playground.
The playground at Heritage Christian School was taken down in August for safety reasons, leaving the elementary and middle school students without much to play on outside.
So the school was signed up to try to win a playground in a contest through Children's Playstructures and Recreation. The contestant with the most online votes will get a new play structure installed next month.
The school's teachers say the playground would mean a lot to the kids.
"The kids really need to run off their energy and get sunshine and just be outside and run, because it's hard to sit in a classroom and concentrate when you don't have that time to go play," said first and third grade teacher Jennifer Mendyka.
School officials are asking people to 'Like' the PlayCPRI Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/playcpri ) and then they need to follow a link (http://woobox.com/6j2kie/vote?web=1 ) to vote for Heritage Christian School.
Voting closes Friday and the Heritage Christian students will know if they won the contest on Monday.
