Spring snowstorms continue to set records, cause cancellations

It's not as bad as last week but the storm system moving through South Dakota is setting new records and leaving a trail of cancellations.

Although Rapid City schools are closed for the day, roads are passable in town with only a thin layer of snow on the ground.  But, vehicles can be seen sliding at stoplights and turns.

No advisories are in place at this time but the snow continues to fall.

The National Weather Service says the system dropped 3.4 inches of snow at the Rapid City airport Tuesday, surpassing the record for the date of 3.3 inches in 1960.
The storm is expected to dump as much as 15 inches of snow on some areas by Thursday.
