Blackhawk man previously jailed for assaulting officer, faces assault charges against trooper

After spending time in jail for felony assault on a police officer, 23-year-old Marcus Onken of Blackhawk, now faces three counts of aggravated and simple assault charges, and two of the charges are against troopers.

On Monday, three witnesses, including two highway patrol troopers and Onken's grandmother, gave their account of what happened on March 30th.

Onken's grandmother says he knocked her out and then punched her in the face. The troopers say when they arrived on the scene, Onken threw something at one of them, breaking the trooper's nose. The trooper also thinks he may have permanent eyesight loss in his left eye. The other trooper says Onken kicked him in the chest.

Onken will be arraigned within the next two weeks.
