Downtown Suzie Cappa Art Center opens its doors

Art in downtown Rapid City has been a hot topic of discussion, and today a new center has been added to show off some very talented artists.

The Black Hills Works operated "Suzie Cappa Art Center" opened it's doors up downtown for an open house Friday.

This second location for the center took eight months to renovate, & will add additional space artists to its existing art center on Range Road.

The new gallery will host the artwork of over 100 adult artists of all abilities, some of which can be seen as they work on their latest masterpiece.

Suzie Cappa Art Center Director, Brad A. Winter says that the opportunity to see the artists at work doesn't benefit just visitors, but the artists as well, "People have come in since we've been open, ask for autographs or to meet that artist. It's great for their self–esteem, they get to work on their artwork and it makes them appreciate life and gives them something to look forward to everyday ".

The Suzie Cappa Art Program was started in 2001 in the memory of a former client of Black Hills Works.

The center will host its official grand opening April 17th thru the 20th.
