The historic Western South Dakota gambling town of Deadwood plans to begin four major capital improvement projects this Spring.
Repairs include a new heating and air conditioning unit in City Hall, roof replacements on both the Library and Deadwood Pavilion, and drainage improvements in the Broadway Ally.
The total costs for the projects is about $440,000.
Public Works Administrator Jim Raysor says this is only the beginning to what will be 18-million projects over the next six years.
"All those things combined are going to be really positive for Deadwood over the next six years," said Raysor. "You're going to see a lot of activity and a lot of good changes made.
Raysor says officials have been planning the Spring projects for a while, but other improvements such as parking lots and rodeo grounds took priority.
