The power struggle continues between the City of Gillette and a company over the right to provide electricity to one of the area's biggest customers: the Cam-plex.
City leaders agreed to annex the facility more than 20 years ago, but have not officially done so yet.
However, the city provides electricity to the multi-event facilities even though the buildings are not within city limits.
Powder River Energy claims (in a complaint filed in district court) that since annexation has not taken place the city has no right to supply Cam-plex with power.
Gillette Mayor Tom Murphy says the city will annex the land later this year and state law is on the city's side.
"The state statute says quite clearly that the City of Gillette can service a load which it annexes," said Murphy.
Cam-plex general manager Larry Gaffey said in an email this is an issue between Powder River Energy and the city, and cam-plex officials have no say.
