RCPD releases preliminary autopsy results in child's drowning

The Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of 8-year-old Jasann Dubray. Preliminary results from the autopsy were made on Tuesday and show the cause of death to be drowning.

Police were called to the Econo Lodge in Rapid City on March 23 to respond to a drowning report. When police arrived, they found several people performing CPR on Dubray in the pool area. She was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation so far indicates Dubray's death was accidental. It remains open until the full autopsy results are complete and that may take several weeks.
